  • Ingrown toenail for the 3rd time.?

Hello, for two times already I have had an ingrown toenail on the same toe. It was surgiclly removed two times. But I had a great fear or needles and all the other stuff doctors use. I hesitated a while to see the doctor. Right now I have a 3rd ingrown nail on the same toe.Its red, swollen, and infected, but its not really that painful. Now the question is, can I use a home remedy like the Espom salt on the nail now, or is it too late ?Ingrown toenail for the 3rd time.?
if u stop cutting it will grow back the right way man your stupidIngrown toenail for the 3rd time.?
If it's not painful, yes, go for it. I've had the same problems with my 2 big toes and had a partial removal of each side of the toenail with great success. Just keep an eye out for infection.
I went to the foot dr and they actually killed the root on the edge of the toe so that part of the nail will never grow back in the corner. It has been 14 years and it's never done it again.

Does anyone know if your bodily hair, teeth, fingernails, and toenails grow at the same rate?

Meaning same length and time it takes to grow to a certain length?Does anyone know if your bodily hair, teeth, fingernails, and toenails grow at the same rate?
I noticed that my toenails do not grow as fast as my fingernails.

I know that my head hair grows about a half inch in a month - but my leg hair grows an eigth of an inch in 2 days

The hair on my fingers and toes don't seem to grow at all and my eyelashes are the same lenght they were 5 years ago. My eyebrows grow only if i pluck or trim them....

HmDoes anyone know if your bodily hair, teeth, fingernails, and toenails grow at the same rate?
if teeth grew like finger nails we'd have to file them! that would hurt.

    Ingrown toenail pain?

I've got an ingrown toenail and I'm getting it cut out on Tuesday. How much pain will I expect to go through and for how long?Ingrown toenail pain?
Depends on your pain tolerance...My son has a brittle bone disease, Osteogenesis Imperfecta and even the fractures he's had that required surgery-he never cried. He's has several ingrown toenails...Make sure they are NOT just cutting it out, but permanently resolving the problem or it will keep happening. The first couple my son had, the Dr. didn't do them right and he had to go through it again. it won't require pain killers other than over the counter though. You will be in some discomfort, but not too bad. The worse part would be the numbing shots. If you have any pain medicine, you might want to take it prior to going. Good Luck!!!!!!!Ingrown toenail pain?
I had part of a toenail cut out and the nail bed killed a few months ago, and the procedure itself was painless, I was joking with the doctor the whole time, though I was so scared about it hurting I almost broke the arms off of his chair. But again, no pain.

After, it hurt some, mostly a throbbing pain that was easily treated with Advil. I had some issues with things touching it without a bandaid on it though...

Be very sure to follow the docs instructions about cleaning it after. Because if he does it, it hurts worse than anything. I didnt clean mine good enough, and him cleaning it hurt me worse than any other part of the whole ordeal.
It depends on how the doctor in question does it. When I had mine out, he used a topical, which didn't hurt but it was REALLY COLD. After that he gave me an injection of anesthetic.

There was almost no pain after that. My toe itself might been in some, as it twitched a lot during the procedure. And if you do feel any pain you can always ask them to use more anesthetic.

Be really careful afterward though, because your toe will still be numb for a while. (Mine was for almost 2 week after) While it's numb, it can be very easy to injure your toe without realizing it.
    Hi Pat,

I know that hurts while you have the Ingrown toenail, the doctor will give you a numbing shot before he starts. I won't lie to you it will be very sore and will take awhile to heal.I would put a band-aid over your toe so you can wear your shoes. The doctor can tell you how long it will take to heal. Just bare and take it My Friend.

    Your Friend,

    poppy1
I had one removed %26amp; the pain of them pulling it out is not as bad as when they give you shots in your toe!! It was the worst pain next to child birth that I have ever felt. Probably because our toes don't have much skin or fat, so basically they give you shots right into your bones. Afterward it didn't hurt too much, but try to stay off your feet for atleast a day or two after. Good luck!~~
A good deal at first but that's just when your getting the anesthetic shots

after that you can't feel anything
It shouldn't be to bad. If they give you pain killers. Your be walking a bit strange for about 2 week then you'll be fine.

    Cornmeal toenail fungus treatment?

Never heard of it. However, tea tree oil will kill the fungus. Use a drop or two ONLY on the toenail twice a day until the fungus completely disappears. Wear only cotton socks and keep your feet dry. Cornmeal toenail fungus treatment?
I have not heard of that but do know what I would try if I had toenail fungus. Soaking your feet in vinegar absolutely kills athletes foot which is also a fungus. Apparently fungus cannot thrive in the acidic vinegar. Warm up a bowl of white vinegar in the microwave and pour it into a basin or wash pan and soak your feet while your read or watch tv. Soak them for about 15 minutes, twice per day. Athletes foot goes away in just a few days, toenail fungus might take a good bit longer. Wear sandals as much as possible to minimize the damp conditions that fungus thrive on.

    Ingrown toenail help !?

I've had surgery for both of my toe nail, how can I keep them perfectly normal ? So they wont grow crooked again.

Place cotton cubes under the nail and let it grow long ?

What foods should I eat to make my nails stronger, milk ?Ingrown toenail help !?
Do not use the clippers that are curved use straight clippers. Take a vitamin that has calcium.Ingrown toenail help !?
you can cut your toes with a V shape in the middle. What it does it forces your nails to close the gap, closing the V and bringing the nail out of the beds of your skin. It's easily done with toe nail clippers.

Letting it grow long will probably cause it to grow ingrown because you'll be hitting it against your shoe.

    Also, take vitamins.
    calcium

so yeah things like milk, cheese

Which sounds better? Another Patrick Kane question or having your toenails yanked out?

LMAO!!!! It never fails. You always seem to ask funny questions Ralph. I have to agree with you. It is annoying. But the idea of having my toenails yanked out sounds horrid, LOL. I think I would rather see a Kane question, LOL. At least with those I don't have to answer. But with my toenails getting yanked out, I would have no choice. Damn that sounds terrible.

EDIT: I agree. Nobody knows the details yet. Most (not all) seem to want him to be thrown in front of a firing squad. I have no opinion on this subject until I hear the details.Which sounds better? Another Patrick Kane question or having your toenails yanked out?
As an Ex. Jr. A goalie I have had my toenails smashed back into the toe nail beds many times, from hard shots to the toes. To the point that I needed to have them pulled out on 5 occasions by a medical Professional. So as to not bring back flashbacks I'll stick with the Taxi cab confession of Katrick Pane.Which sounds better? Another Patrick Kane question or having your toenails yanked out?
    rip my toenails, my finger nails, my arms, my legs, and my head off please. these questions are getting ridiculous!! lol ';will pat kane be banned from NHL for punching a cabbie?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!';
    Another Patrick Kane question!

I haven't been in this section yet today, or yesterday so I haven't read any yet, yay!
Wow...that's a bucket of torture either way.

I'll take another Kane question, only because I can turn my computer off if needbe.

    Nonetheless...point very much taken.
Please, Rip off all ten of them! Getting hit in the head with a sledge hammer would be good as well, then I can forget about all the gay Kane questions.
I let my daughter paint my toe nails (and by accident most of my feet. Hey, she's 2). So go ahead and rip out my toenails please.
I think another ';who's better Crosby or ovechkin'; would be pretty bad too.
    Toenails please.

  • Toenail polish?

Poll time, what color should I paint my toenails?Toenail polish?
    redToenail polish?
It depends on what you want and on your skin tone.

But if you want a more natural look, light pink usually looks good on all skintones.
    Gold, or a light pinkish.
    fire red
DEPENDING ON YOUR SKIN TONE, EITHER SILVER OR GOLD.
    Pink or a light purple
How about dark brown with some red tones in it!
You should match it to your fingernails, whatever you are using on them go a shade darker. Try and match your skin tone, using a colour chart. Nothing to bold as only draws the eye that way.
    light pink
I think u should paint them a bright color like pink or something maybe LIME GREEN!!!!! yes yes defenately lime green
    Hot pink
First look at your skin color if its dark a deep red always looks great if your skin is b/w a orange looks great if its really light a dark sparkly purple looks great!!!!
I like nude colors. Beiges, browns, light peach/pink. But sometimes I just like blood red.
    metallic pink

what color of paint do you have?

    give us some options!

I think i have an ingrown toenail. Now what???

thanks to do it yourself pedis in my teens now the nails on my big toes are growing inward! it is painful to cut my nails now. i cut it straight. i read somewhere that a woman had to undergo painful surgery to correct her ingrown toe nail once... is that eventually going to happen to me???? how can i get rid of this problem??I think i have an ingrown toenail. Now what???
If you want the best answer,

consult your physician, podiatrist, parents, or nail-care professional,

    in that order.

For the cheap way out, reverse the order.

    It's your call.

P.S. There is no way to know whether do-it-yourself kits caused

your alleged problem. It could be genetic, the kind of shoes you wear,

how you walk, etc.I think i have an ingrown toenail. Now what???
Soak your foot in room-temperature water (add Epsom’s salt if you wish), and gently massage the side of the nail fold to help reduce the inflammation.

Don't keep cutting the nail, that will only make it worse.

Injured toenail. Remove, protect or let fall off by itself?

My son injured his big toe at camp two weeks ago and his nail has detached from the nail bed. It's still attached at the back and along the sides (I think). We've been covering it with a guaze bandage and it hasn't fallen off yet. Should we continue to protect it or let it come off. I heard if you take it off too soon you can cause the cuticle to close and a new nail will not form. He plays ice hockey and wants to play a pick up game tonight. I'm afraid it will cause the nail to come off completely.Injured toenail. Remove, protect or let fall off by itself?
It doesn't really matter what you do. A new nail will grow in regardless. If you haven't removed the old nail by that time, the new nail will push it out.

If it's fairly secure, you can leave it in place to protect the nail bed, which will be sensitive to touch until the nail grows back. If it's loose and likely to get pulled off by accident, just yank it, or trim away all the loose parts.Injured toenail. Remove, protect or let fall off by itself?
i had an experince and i took it off. my nails grew back!
Just cover it well to keep it from ripping off. It will fall off when it is ready. Soaking in epsom salt is good in the evening. Then just lightly wrap for bed.
Try to cut as much of it off as you can and clean it well. I had this happen recently at the post office when their door caught my baby toe and tore the nail off. If you're not careful and leave it too long the nail will grow back under the old broken nail and then it will really hurt. Also, don't keep a bandage on it any longer than necessary because it needs to dry to heal properly.
keep protecting it. Also put some neosporin on it to prevent infection. they have actual toe covers at the pharmacy that cushion they look like a glove finger only thicker. that would be the best bet. Yes if you remove it i can cause damage. Also be painful if its attached any where. its best to let it fall off on its own. He can soak it also in epsons salts and warm water. that will help with infection and to keep it clean and come off easier.
,Cut off what is not attached and keep it coverd and clean ,then at night when he is not waring shoes or playin around let the air dry it out yes it will eventually fall off but its less painfull if you cut off what you can.toenails rarely don't come back my children have lost sevreal of them and they have always grown back!
The same thing happened to me except I slipped off a slippery rock while I was swimming. The nail will come off, but the bed will be sensitive for a few days. The nail will grow back, but it takes a long time. I'd keep it wrapped for his game, then have it removed tomorrow. Soak his foot in a tub of Epson salts a few times a day and keep the nail bed clean after the nail is removed. I guarantee he will stub his toe on everything until the sensitivity is gone.
I would definitely let it fall off naturally. Don't pull, or tug on it 'cuz it will definitely cause a load of pain! Maybe something that you could try and do to speed up that process would be to soak his foot and toe in epsom salt/water solution. I hope that he feel better soon. Ice hockey probably isn't the best at this time...
seek medical attention to make sure u r doing the right thing.
The advise I gave to my son when that happened to him was to let if fall on its own. Now if it happens again and you want to save the nail, simply add pressure to it with a bandage it worked for my pinkie fingernail (ouch) it literally attaches itself back to the nailbed. it will take a while but it's worth the wait and it's less of a pain.

    Toenail turning blue/grey?

I have noticed about 3-4 days ago that my toenails have been turning blue/grey, but mainly in my right foot, this only happens when i sit down, when i stand and walk again, they turn back to pink.

Just incase it helps, im 16.

What could be the reason?Toenail turning blue/grey?
There's nothing wrong with your toes or toenails. When a person sits down your feet are on the ground. Your are not moving your leg, and with gravity, the blood in your leg will go down to your feet and toenails Your feet will get a bluish color. When you get up and start walking, and you are using your leg muscles, the contracting of your leg muscles moves the blood in your leg upwards and your toes and toenails will turn pink again.

If you ever feel any pain in your lower leg when you are sitting, then you see your doctor.

Don't worry, the blue color is just the blood going down due to gravity and you are not using your leg muscles.

Best of luck. Hope I helped.Toenail turning blue/grey?

Doesn't sound good. Sounds like a circulation problem, like an artery is getting compressed or something. I'd go get checked out.
Sounds like you're losing circulation in your legs when you sit. You might have bad veins in your legs. Tell your doctor about this, he or she will probably give you meds.

    Dr. Dog
you may have actually have a bruise under your toenail, its happened to me before, and it goes away eventually

I clipped off my bruised toenail?

I had a bruised toenail and the blackish part was in the middle, it been 2 months now so wat i did while i was clipping my toenails i clip a hole in it and started to clip off the part where the black (dry blood?) part was, it was easy to do so because the nail was seperated from my toe now anyway it was like it was ready to fall off.. so cleaned it up, took out all the clot blood and now the weird thing is, yeah is it better, but my toe look ugly! the mddle part has no nail and its just plain weird looking. my question is, will the nail grow back or will i have this no nail circle in the middle of my toe forever??I clipped off my bruised toenail?
That has happened to me a couple times...you get like a blood blister underneath the toe nail. I've got them from sports all day. The blister must have opened and drained. My toenail came off with little effort and zero pain, it was weird...but it grew back both timesI clipped off my bruised toenail?
    it will grow back.
it will grow..your toenails grow in length, just like fingernails.its just a blood blister under your toenail...
It will grow out and you will have a normal toe again. It's like when you dye your hair, you may have a line of different color or in your case a weird looking part of your toe and it will grow out to look the same as it did before.
As long as you didn't damage the nail bed at the bottom, it should still grow back.

Is there a solution or a cure for this condition?Toenail fungus?
I had this problem. There are a number of medications that will help this, but they're expensive and toxic to your liver. See your doctor. They worked for me (although I could actually feel my liver get bigger and push against my ribcage after taking them). You have to trim your tonails a lot also. That was probably more effective than anything else--the problem went away for good after I started a juijitsu class and had to start worrying about the length of my toenails.Toenail fungus?
First, you have to see a Podiatrist( foot doctor). He'll take a sample from your toenail that is affected by the fungus,by scraping some pieces of it,send it to the laboratory and check it for fungus and if it's fungus,he'll give you some medication for it. Don't guess that it's fungus, not unless the Podiatrist informs you.
I got rid of mine after years of frustration. The doctor or podiatrist can give you a prescription that requires periodic liver testing. It takes about 3 months, but it's worth it. Guaranteed. You will be amazed.

go to a pediotrist and get them checked out and they should tell you what is wrong. make sure also to sut yer toe nails straight across. and if yer embarassed to show them, paint them up a little until they get better
go to your local podiatrist. get a pedicure often.
go to a doctor, or cover them with nail polish and put lotion on, don't expose them to rough surfaces.

    Toenail polish?

Whats a good color for me to paint my toenails. I want something fun for fall/halloween.Toenail polish?
DUH!!! WUR R U THINKING!!!! go with the black and orange look!!!! it totally makes the hallowen look perfect! I do it every year and I think it make me lok fabulous!!!! o and I also think u should draw like a pumpkin or bat on ur big toe or thumb. it always gets the guys for me!!!!!!Toenail polish?
a definate would be black and orange..those are traditional halloween colors try it in verticle stripes or black base with orange dots..also a lil airbrush wouldnt hurt..like a cute pumpkin or something
Toe nails should always be painted with dark colours. Try painting with an opaque colour and apply glittery varnish over? Hey! try the nail stickers thingy.. they're fun and nice to look at!
    black, orange, silver, white

    either combo is good!
I would go with an irredescent (i'm sure I messed that up) orangey brown I know KIKO makes a really nice on that is affordable as well
I tend to use a color called ';forest green'; on my toes when I'm looking for something fun, I think this dark green compliments most skin tones really well.

There's always good old orange and black (can't mess with a classic, lol)

I think a redish orange would look great also, especially concidering the whole fall theme.
orange base, put a small blob of black in the middle then use a toothpick to pull the 'spider legs' out.

Or black base with ends of moss green smudged to look like moss.

Or go to WalMart and get the stickers.
    Orange with black dots!
    Go crazy!!

Do them green and orange, not like an icky green but a forest green. Or a black.. go wild, but as these colours are dark. Make sure you paint on a base coat first!
you should make it black ! and then with the french white nail polish for the tips make like spider webs on your nails over the black polish....

get like a tooth pick put it on the white nail polish adn then style it as spider webs on your nails...
    Black!!!with glitter
    Orange!
    Brown is cool

    Toenail secretions daily! HeLP?

you need to go to a podiatrist....a foot doctor. no, that is not normal.

You need to see a foot doctor, its most likely a ingrown toenail, they can remove it and help you learn how to cut your toenails correctly, I have had them in each big toe, and had it removed, it kinda hurts the shots but in a few days it is well worth it, you will feel much better! Good Luck!!
I am a nurse for a podiatrist and that is not normal. It could be an ingrown or infected toenail. And it sounds as if the nail itself is fungal. There are several treatment options. But you need to go see a podiatrist soon.
    Seek medical attention.
You need to seek medical help. Most likely you have an ingrown toenail or an infection. You may even have both.
