  • Ingrown toenail for the 3rd time.?

Hello, for two times already I have had an ingrown toenail on the same toe. It was surgiclly removed two times. But I had a great fear or needles and all the other stuff doctors use. I hesitated a while to see the doctor. Right now I have a 3rd ingrown nail on the same toe.Its red, swollen, and infected, but its not really that painful. Now the question is, can I use a home remedy like the Espom salt on the nail now, or is it too late ?Ingrown toenail for the 3rd time.?
if u stop cutting it will grow back the right way man your stupidIngrown toenail for the 3rd time.?
If it's not painful, yes, go for it. I've had the same problems with my 2 big toes and had a partial removal of each side of the toenail with great success. Just keep an eye out for infection.
I went to the foot dr and they actually killed the root on the edge of the toe so that part of the nail will never grow back in the corner. It has been 14 years and it's never done it again.

Does anyone know if your bodily hair, teeth, fingernails, and toenails grow at the same rate?

Meaning same length and time it takes to grow to a certain length?Does anyone know if your bodily hair, teeth, fingernails, and toenails grow at the same rate?
I noticed that my toenails do not grow as fast as my fingernails.

I know that my head hair grows about a half inch in a month - but my leg hair grows an eigth of an inch in 2 days

The hair on my fingers and toes don't seem to grow at all and my eyelashes are the same lenght they were 5 years ago. My eyebrows grow only if i pluck or trim them....

HmDoes anyone know if your bodily hair, teeth, fingernails, and toenails grow at the same rate?
if teeth grew like finger nails we'd have to file them! that would hurt.

    Ingrown toenail pain?

I've got an ingrown toenail and I'm getting it cut out on Tuesday. How much pain will I expect to go through and for how long?Ingrown toenail pain?
Depends on your pain tolerance...My son has a brittle bone disease, Osteogenesis Imperfecta and even the fractures he's had that required surgery-he never cried. He's has several ingrown toenails...Make sure they are NOT just cutting it out, but permanently resolving the problem or it will keep happening. The first couple my son had, the Dr. didn't do them right and he had to go through it again. it won't require pain killers other than over the counter though. You will be in some discomfort, but not too bad. The worse part would be the numbing shots. If you have any pain medicine, you might want to take it prior to going. Good Luck!!!!!!!Ingrown toenail pain?
I had part of a toenail cut out and the nail bed killed a few months ago, and the procedure itself was painless, I was joking with the doctor the whole time, though I was so scared about it hurting I almost broke the arms off of his chair. But again, no pain.

After, it hurt some, mostly a throbbing pain that was easily treated with Advil. I had some issues with things touching it without a bandaid on it though...

Be very sure to follow the docs instructions about cleaning it after. Because if he does it, it hurts worse than anything. I didnt clean mine good enough, and him cleaning it hurt me worse than any other part of the whole ordeal.
It depends on how the doctor in question does it. When I had mine out, he used a topical, which didn't hurt but it was REALLY COLD. After that he gave me an injection of anesthetic.

There was almost no pain after that. My toe itself might been in some, as it twitched a lot during the procedure. And if you do feel any pain you can always ask them to use more anesthetic.

Be really careful afterward though, because your toe will still be numb for a while. (Mine was for almost 2 week after) While it's numb, it can be very easy to injure your toe without realizing it.
    Hi Pat,

I know that hurts while you have the Ingrown toenail, the doctor will give you a numbing shot before he starts. I won't lie to you it will be very sore and will take awhile to heal.I would put a band-aid over your toe so you can wear your shoes. The doctor can tell you how long it will take to heal. Just bare and take it My Friend.

    Your Friend,

    poppy1
I had one removed %26amp; the pain of them pulling it out is not as bad as when they give you shots in your toe!! It was the worst pain next to child birth that I have ever felt. Probably because our toes don't have much skin or fat, so basically they give you shots right into your bones. Afterward it didn't hurt too much, but try to stay off your feet for atleast a day or two after. Good luck!~~
A good deal at first but that's just when your getting the anesthetic shots

after that you can't feel anything
It shouldn't be to bad. If they give you pain killers. Your be walking a bit strange for about 2 week then you'll be fine.

    Cornmeal toenail fungus treatment?

Never heard of it. However, tea tree oil will kill the fungus. Use a drop or two ONLY on the toenail twice a day until the fungus completely disappears. Wear only cotton socks and keep your feet dry. Cornmeal toenail fungus treatment?
I have not heard of that but do know what I would try if I had toenail fungus. Soaking your feet in vinegar absolutely kills athletes foot which is also a fungus. Apparently fungus cannot thrive in the acidic vinegar. Warm up a bowl of white vinegar in the microwave and pour it into a basin or wash pan and soak your feet while your read or watch tv. Soak them for about 15 minutes, twice per day. Athletes foot goes away in just a few days, toenail fungus might take a good bit longer. Wear sandals as much as possible to minimize the damp conditions that fungus thrive on.

    Ingrown toenail help !?

I've had surgery for both of my toe nail, how can I keep them perfectly normal ? So they wont grow crooked again.

Place cotton cubes under the nail and let it grow long ?

What foods should I eat to make my nails stronger, milk ?Ingrown toenail help !?
Do not use the clippers that are curved use straight clippers. Take a vitamin that has calcium.Ingrown toenail help !?
you can cut your toes with a V shape in the middle. What it does it forces your nails to close the gap, closing the V and bringing the nail out of the beds of your skin. It's easily done with toe nail clippers.

Letting it grow long will probably cause it to grow ingrown because you'll be hitting it against your shoe.

    Also, take vitamins.
    calcium

so yeah things like milk, cheese

Which sounds better? Another Patrick Kane question or having your toenails yanked out?

LMAO!!!! It never fails. You always seem to ask funny questions Ralph. I have to agree with you. It is annoying. But the idea of having my toenails yanked out sounds horrid, LOL. I think I would rather see a Kane question, LOL. At least with those I don't have to answer. But with my toenails getting yanked out, I would have no choice. Damn that sounds terrible.

EDIT: I agree. Nobody knows the details yet. Most (not all) seem to want him to be thrown in front of a firing squad. I have no opinion on this subject until I hear the details.Which sounds better? Another Patrick Kane question or having your toenails yanked out?
As an Ex. Jr. A goalie I have had my toenails smashed back into the toe nail beds many times, from hard shots to the toes. To the point that I needed to have them pulled out on 5 occasions by a medical Professional. So as to not bring back flashbacks I'll stick with the Taxi cab confession of Katrick Pane.Which sounds better? Another Patrick Kane question or having your toenails yanked out?
    rip my toenails, my finger nails, my arms, my legs, and my head off please. these questions are getting ridiculous!! lol ';will pat kane be banned from NHL for punching a cabbie?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!';
    Another Patrick Kane question!

I haven't been in this section yet today, or yesterday so I haven't read any yet, yay!
Wow...that's a bucket of torture either way.

I'll take another Kane question, only because I can turn my computer off if needbe.

    Nonetheless...point very much taken.
Please, Rip off all ten of them! Getting hit in the head with a sledge hammer would be good as well, then I can forget about all the gay Kane questions.
I let my daughter paint my toe nails (and by accident most of my feet. Hey, she's 2). So go ahead and rip out my toenails please.
I think another ';who's better Crosby or ovechkin'; would be pretty bad too.
    Toenails please.

  • Toenail polish?

Poll time, what color should I paint my toenails?Toenail polish?
    redToenail polish?
It depends on what you want and on your skin tone.

But if you want a more natural look, light pink usually looks good on all skintones.
    Gold, or a light pinkish.
    fire red
DEPENDING ON YOUR SKIN TONE, EITHER SILVER OR GOLD.
    Pink or a light purple
How about dark brown with some red tones in it!
You should match it to your fingernails, whatever you are using on them go a shade darker. Try and match your skin tone, using a colour chart. Nothing to bold as only draws the eye that way.
    light pink
I think u should paint them a bright color like pink or something maybe LIME GREEN!!!!! yes yes defenately lime green
    Hot pink
First look at your skin color if its dark a deep red always looks great if your skin is b/w a orange looks great if its really light a dark sparkly purple looks great!!!!
I like nude colors. Beiges, browns, light peach/pink. But sometimes I just like blood red.
    metallic pink

what color of paint do you have?

    give us some options!

I think i have an ingrown toenail. Now what???

thanks to do it yourself pedis in my teens now the nails on my big toes are growing inward! it is painful to cut my nails now. i cut it straight. i read somewhere that a woman had to undergo painful surgery to correct her ingrown toe nail once... is that eventually going to happen to me???? how can i get rid of this problem??I think i have an ingrown toenail. Now what???
If you want the best answer,

consult your physician, podiatrist, parents, or nail-care professional,

    in that order.

For the cheap way out, reverse the order.

    It's your call.

P.S. There is no way to know whether do-it-yourself kits caused

your alleged problem. It could be genetic, the kind of shoes you wear,

how you walk, etc.I think i have an ingrown toenail. Now what???
Soak your foot in room-temperature water (add Epsom’s salt if you wish), and gently massage the side of the nail fold to help reduce the inflammation.

Don't keep cutting the nail, that will only make it worse.

Injured toenail. Remove, protect or let fall off by itself?

My son injured his big toe at camp two weeks ago and his nail has detached from the nail bed. It's still attached at the back and along the sides (I think). We've been covering it with a guaze bandage and it hasn't fallen off yet. Should we continue to protect it or let it come off. I heard if you take it off too soon you can cause the cuticle to close and a new nail will not form. He plays ice hockey and wants to play a pick up game tonight. I'm afraid it will cause the nail to come off completely.Injured toenail. Remove, protect or let fall off by itself?
It doesn't really matter what you do. A new nail will grow in regardless. If you haven't removed the old nail by that time, the new nail will push it out.

If it's fairly secure, you can leave it in place to protect the nail bed, which will be sensitive to touch until the nail grows back. If it's loose and likely to get pulled off by accident, just yank it, or trim away all the loose parts.Injured toenail. Remove, protect or let fall off by itself?
i had an experince and i took it off. my nails grew back!
Just cover it well to keep it from ripping off. It will fall off when it is ready. Soaking in epsom salt is good in the evening. Then just lightly wrap for bed.
Try to cut as much of it off as you can and clean it well. I had this happen recently at the post office when their door caught my baby toe and tore the nail off. If you're not careful and leave it too long the nail will grow back under the old broken nail and then it will really hurt. Also, don't keep a bandage on it any longer than necessary because it needs to dry to heal properly.
keep protecting it. Also put some neosporin on it to prevent infection. they have actual toe covers at the pharmacy that cushion they look like a glove finger only thicker. that would be the best bet. Yes if you remove it i can cause damage. Also be painful if its attached any where. its best to let it fall off on its own. He can soak it also in epsons salts and warm water. that will help with infection and to keep it clean and come off easier.
,Cut off what is not attached and keep it coverd and clean ,then at night when he is not waring shoes or playin around let the air dry it out yes it will eventually fall off but its less painfull if you cut off what you can.toenails rarely don't come back my children have lost sevreal of them and they have always grown back!
The same thing happened to me except I slipped off a slippery rock while I was swimming. The nail will come off, but the bed will be sensitive for a few days. The nail will grow back, but it takes a long time. I'd keep it wrapped for his game, then have it removed tomorrow. Soak his foot in a tub of Epson salts a few times a day and keep the nail bed clean after the nail is removed. I guarantee he will stub his toe on everything until the sensitivity is gone.
I would definitely let it fall off naturally. Don't pull, or tug on it 'cuz it will definitely cause a load of pain! Maybe something that you could try and do to speed up that process would be to soak his foot and toe in epsom salt/water solution. I hope that he feel better soon. Ice hockey probably isn't the best at this time...
seek medical attention to make sure u r doing the right thing.
The advise I gave to my son when that happened to him was to let if fall on its own. Now if it happens again and you want to save the nail, simply add pressure to it with a bandage it worked for my pinkie fingernail (ouch) it literally attaches itself back to the nailbed. it will take a while but it's worth the wait and it's less of a pain.

    Toenail turning blue/grey?

I have noticed about 3-4 days ago that my toenails have been turning blue/grey, but mainly in my right foot, this only happens when i sit down, when i stand and walk again, they turn back to pink.

Just incase it helps, im 16.

What could be the reason?Toenail turning blue/grey?
There's nothing wrong with your toes or toenails. When a person sits down your feet are on the ground. Your are not moving your leg, and with gravity, the blood in your leg will go down to your feet and toenails Your feet will get a bluish color. When you get up and start walking, and you are using your leg muscles, the contracting of your leg muscles moves the blood in your leg upwards and your toes and toenails will turn pink again.

If you ever feel any pain in your lower leg when you are sitting, then you see your doctor.

Don't worry, the blue color is just the blood going down due to gravity and you are not using your leg muscles.

Best of luck. Hope I helped.Toenail turning blue/grey?

Doesn't sound good. Sounds like a circulation problem, like an artery is getting compressed or something. I'd go get checked out.
Sounds like you're losing circulation in your legs when you sit. You might have bad veins in your legs. Tell your doctor about this, he or she will probably give you meds.

    Dr. Dog
you may have actually have a bruise under your toenail, its happened to me before, and it goes away eventually

I clipped off my bruised toenail?

I had a bruised toenail and the blackish part was in the middle, it been 2 months now so wat i did while i was clipping my toenails i clip a hole in it and started to clip off the part where the black (dry blood?) part was, it was easy to do so because the nail was seperated from my toe now anyway it was like it was ready to fall off.. so cleaned it up, took out all the clot blood and now the weird thing is, yeah is it better, but my toe look ugly! the mddle part has no nail and its just plain weird looking. my question is, will the nail grow back or will i have this no nail circle in the middle of my toe forever??I clipped off my bruised toenail?
That has happened to me a couple times...you get like a blood blister underneath the toe nail. I've got them from sports all day. The blister must have opened and drained. My toenail came off with little effort and zero pain, it was weird...but it grew back both timesI clipped off my bruised toenail?
    it will grow back.
it will grow..your toenails grow in length, just like fingernails.its just a blood blister under your toenail...
It will grow out and you will have a normal toe again. It's like when you dye your hair, you may have a line of different color or in your case a weird looking part of your toe and it will grow out to look the same as it did before.
As long as you didn't damage the nail bed at the bottom, it should still grow back.

Is there a solution or a cure for this condition?Toenail fungus?
I had this problem. There are a number of medications that will help this, but they're expensive and toxic to your liver. See your doctor. They worked for me (although I could actually feel my liver get bigger and push against my ribcage after taking them). You have to trim your tonails a lot also. That was probably more effective than anything else--the problem went away for good after I started a juijitsu class and had to start worrying about the length of my toenails.Toenail fungus?
First, you have to see a Podiatrist( foot doctor). He'll take a sample from your toenail that is affected by the fungus,by scraping some pieces of it,send it to the laboratory and check it for fungus and if it's fungus,he'll give you some medication for it. Don't guess that it's fungus, not unless the Podiatrist informs you.
I got rid of mine after years of frustration. The doctor or podiatrist can give you a prescription that requires periodic liver testing. It takes about 3 months, but it's worth it. Guaranteed. You will be amazed.

oh and dont use cheap nail polishes they turn ur toenails yellow i hate that so much.... i ve been there and done that also.... okay newayz heres ya link try this if it doesnt work then try a doc or a pedicure... one of them should help....

go to a pediotrist and get them checked out and they should tell you what is wrong. make sure also to sut yer toe nails straight across. and if yer embarassed to show them, paint them up a little until they get better
go to your local podiatrist. get a pedicure often.
go to a doctor, or cover them with nail polish and put lotion on, don't expose them to rough surfaces.

    Toenail polish?

Whats a good color for me to paint my toenails. I want something fun for fall/halloween.Toenail polish?
DUH!!! WUR R U THINKING!!!! go with the black and orange look!!!! it totally makes the hallowen look perfect! I do it every year and I think it make me lok fabulous!!!! o and I also think u should draw like a pumpkin or bat on ur big toe or thumb. it always gets the guys for me!!!!!!Toenail polish?
a definate would be black and orange..those are traditional halloween colors try it in verticle stripes or black base with orange dots..also a lil airbrush wouldnt hurt..like a cute pumpkin or something
Toe nails should always be painted with dark colours. Try painting with an opaque colour and apply glittery varnish over? Hey! try the nail stickers thingy.. they're fun and nice to look at!
    black, orange, silver, white

    either combo is good!
I would go with an irredescent (i'm sure I messed that up) orangey brown I know KIKO makes a really nice on that is affordable as well
I tend to use a color called ';forest green'; on my toes when I'm looking for something fun, I think this dark green compliments most skin tones really well.

There's always good old orange and black (can't mess with a classic, lol)

I think a redish orange would look great also, especially concidering the whole fall theme.
orange base, put a small blob of black in the middle then use a toothpick to pull the 'spider legs' out.

Or black base with ends of moss green smudged to look like moss.

Or go to WalMart and get the stickers.
    Orange with black dots!
    Go crazy!!

Do them green and orange, not like an icky green but a forest green. Or a black.. go wild, but as these colours are dark. Make sure you paint on a base coat first!
you should make it black ! and then with the french white nail polish for the tips make like spider webs on your nails over the black polish....

get like a tooth pick put it on the white nail polish adn then style it as spider webs on your nails...
    Black!!!with glitter
    Orange!
    Brown is cool

    Toenail secretions daily! HeLP?

you need to go to a podiatrist....a foot doctor. no, that is not normal.

You need to see a foot doctor, its most likely a ingrown toenail, they can remove it and help you learn how to cut your toenails correctly, I have had them in each big toe, and had it removed, it kinda hurts the shots but in a few days it is well worth it, you will feel much better! Good Luck!!
I am a nurse for a podiatrist and that is not normal. It could be an ingrown or infected toenail. And it sounds as if the nail itself is fungal. There are several treatment options. But you need to go see a podiatrist soon.
    Seek medical attention.
You need to seek medical help. Most likely you have an ingrown toenail or an infection. You may even have both.

    http://www.funguscream.com/?gclid=CM6ayc鈥?/a>

if this site doesnt work then try goin to a local store and buy some antifugal creams im sure someone there can help but i tried... good luck!!!
go to a pediotrist and get them checked out and they should tell you what is wrong. make sure also to sut yer toe nails straight across. and if yer embarassed to show them, paint them up a little until they get better
go to a doctor, or cover them with nail polish and put lotion on, don't expose them to rough surfaces.

HeLP?

My right big toenail is all yellow and long and jagged and gives off a foul stinky odor. Whenever I walk, a black secretion comes out the crack on the side where it meets the flesh. Is this normal or should I seek medical help?Toenail secretions daily! HeLP?
you need to go to a podiatrist....a foot doctor. no, that is not normal.

    good luck.Toenail secretions daily! HeLP?

Can i POP an Ingrown Toenail?

like, just the puffy part or the swelling part??Can i POP an Ingrown Toenail?
Yuk.... ok now that I have that out the way. So I don't have an answer to your question about poping it. Although it sounds like fun. I do have a suggestion to avoid future problems as this one. You really have to try this. It works. I used to get ingrown toenails until this little girl, whose dad was a doctor told me to just cut them in a V shape. Guess what? It worked. I have never had an ingrown toenail since then. Can i POP an Ingrown Toenail?
No, I don't think so. The infection is too deep, not at the surface like a cyst or zit. The best thing to do is soak it in water for about 15 minutes or so and then use ';ingrown toenail'; scissors to try and get it out. My husband has them ALL THE TIME. He even had one medically removed, but it keeps coming back. Good luck!
no i have had a ton. u need to go to a pediotrist at have them cut it out. the swelling is either the infection or if you have been playing with it. an ingrown toenail grows under neath your actual nail but wat ever you do, do not pop or play with it anymore tell your parents
NO! dont do it, risk of infection. do not try to sort out an ingrown toenail on your own, seek medical advice.

Toenail coming off! what should i do?

my 'ring toenail' you know the one next to the small toe is coming off. i think i like tore it wearing these shoes. i dont know how. so its not totally off but kind of. should i tape it? take it off?!

    please help!!

ps it never bled or anything. just the toenail.Toenail coming off! what should i do?
LOL. sounds kinda gross but also really funny. same thing happened to me, cuz i kicked a ball too hard. neway i think its best just to let it fall out on its own. or if it really doesn't hurt you could just take it off and it'll eventually grow back normal. hopefully.cuz thats wat i did and i honestly don't have any complaints.Toenail coming off! what should i do?
dont' freak, i had this happen once. go to the local nail place and they can help you remove it with minor discomfort. there is actually another soft small nail underneath there and if you don't remove the top one it could get infected....they actually grow back super fast
Take it off. Because if you don't then when the new toenail comes to grow... It will hurt even worse because it is putting pressure up against your other toenail... So yeah take it off.
Happend to me, I just ripped it off.

    It eventually grew back.
take it off your are always growing toe nails and it might come infected
    Glue it back down!

  • Can someone be more likely, or prone to, ingrown toenails more than others?

My 14 yr old daughter seems to have ingrown toe- and occasionally fingernails often. Not too much, maybe once a month this happens.

She has good hygene habits, so i dunno why this happens.

Can someone be more prone to them than others?

Cheers xCan someone be more likely, or prone to, ingrown toenails more than others?
Ok i had an ingrown toenail on the same big toe for like 3 years it sucks and very painful the best thing for your daughter to get is surgery on it make sure you get it from a foot doctor. It doesnt really matter on hygiene even though that helps. Ingrown toenails happen when someone stubs thir foot wears tight shoes and if they dont clip their nails straight then that causes a biger problem. The hand ingrown nail can be from maybe hitting it maybe she bites it tofar dow that is if she bites them but actually have never heard of someone having it on thir fingers but my guess is she stubbed it somewhere or clips them wrong. I hope that Helps!!!!!!!!!!

The best thing you can do for yur daughter is take her to a foot doctor that is the best thing my mom ever did and i havent had it since. Also if she starts to have one put a thin piece of cotton under the edge of the nail so the nail will grow oer it. thwe cotton mostly blocks the nail from going into the skin . Hope that helps. If your daughter doesnt wnat to go to the doctor take her anyways i felt the same way and i am so happy that my mom took em. If you wnat to know about the procedure the first thing they will do is numb the toe or finger and they will then just cut the nail out of the skin. and thats all Its very quick and only takes like 15 minutes. Shot hurts a little bit but not as bad as the naingrown toenail. Also about the hygeine if her feet sweat alot get foot powder because when it sweats it will get into her nail area and eventually will get infected. Can someone be more likely, or prone to, ingrown toenails more than others?
I think some people might be more prone to it than others, I believe there might be a genetic component - some tendency towards having them. It seems to run in one side of my family, various family members in different generations had it and my cousin even had a toenail removed! I get them too. You could see a podiatrist or doctor if it's really bad. I've given up on that and just put up with it, or deal with it myself. I think as mentioned, the way you trim your nails can have an impact, although I tried all sorts and it didn't help.
It's often down to the way a person trims their nails. You should really trim them flat across, not rounded or too close to the nail bed.

    Toenail issues?

my toenail randomly came off last night..

idk what caused it but it doesnt hurt or feel like anything really and it's hard underneatyh like another nail is there.

why did this happen and what can i do to help it?

does it mean i'm sick or something or do i just need more calcium?

Your toenails sheed just like skin... It is normal i just had one like 5 months ago... it is totally normal....Toenail issues?
perhaps you hit onto something and it no longer able to protect your toe thingy so it grow new 1.
It could be fungal infection that caused the nail to sheared off. This is process may be helped by topical fungal medication. But it can take up to several month to healed. Need to make sure there are no systemic fungal infection involved. In that case systemic fungal meds maybe required. Keep feet dry and clean daily.
happened to me too and my sister lol
NO YOU ARE NOT SICK. TOENAILS DO SHED AT SOMETIME OR ANOTHER. AND IT WAS JUST YOUR TIME. YOU NEED TO WORRY WHEN YOUR TOENAIL FALL OFF AND THERE IS SOFT TISSUE UNDERNEATH, SORE, AND DARK IN COLOR. THAT WOULD BE A SIGN OF GANEGREEN. NO NEED TO WORRY AND NO NEED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
That's unusual. Usually you have to yank them off with a pair of plyers. You could ask a doctor or a pharmisist just to get an educated opinion. Yahoo Answers does not specialize in toe nails. It's more a liver and kidney kind of thing. Good Luck.

  • Toenail fungus?

My boyfriend's had a toenail fungus for over 3 years, and hasn't done a whole lot except try one fungus pill that he found on Ebay. It looks pretty black, it's short and spikey. It doesn't grow at all and it keeps getting shorter. Should we even try Lamisil or is it too late? Is removing the nail and option and if so how does that look? Will it ever grow back into place?Toenail fungus?
He should go to a podiatrist. I would think it may have to come off so it can grow again fresh. I lost one once through damage, I had to keep the nail bed protected for a while but it grew back just fine.

I regularly use tea-tree oil to keep my toenails free of fungus.Toenail fungus?
Have your boyfriend go to a foot doctor. The doctor will know what to do next. The doctor may prescribe Lamisil.
Go to see a dermatologist. These fungus are hard to get rid of and it may mean removing the nail. There are several options for medication from pills to painting the nail with a special lacquer. Most of the time the nail grows back. If you are going to do something this is a good time of the year to do it. At least he isn't wearing sandals.

As much as I hate to admit this my toenails are turning light yellow. Please help?

My toenails are turning yellow, and it's really ugly. I don't know what is happening. A few weeks ago I had something deep down in between my toenail, and my skin, and I gup it out. I don't mean under the nail like on the side. But I only did it on one nail, and both are turning yellow. THANKSAs much as I hate to admit this my toenails are turning light yellow. Please help?
Try buying tea tree oil and adding 10 drops in water to soak your feet. Or, just put the tea tree oil directly onto your toenail. As much as I hate to admit this my toenails are turning light yellow. Please help?
    Eeww! Toe fungus!

Been there, done that. NEVER GOING BACK.
my brother had it %26amp; it's fungus my mom would get him this nail fungus medicine for him . you can buy it at the drugstore it has a medicince dropper as the cap !
either get an appointment with your doctor where they can give u something on prescription to treat it or speak to a pharmacist at ur nearest chemist where they can offer you some advice or good product . good luck !!
Reading your other entry which involved the topic of suicide. I would have to say that you should seek professional help. You sound like a hypocondriac with some serious depression issues. Good luck. We are here for you.
Do you paint your toenails a lot? That can cause them to lose color and be yellowish.
It is a fungus growing. Go to the doctor and see if he/she can recommend something to kill it the fungus before it gets out of control
Yes that sounds bad got to go to the doctor quick

    Toenail PROBLEM... PLZ HELP!!!!!?

My toenail has been injured because I slammed the door on my big toe... it got white as soon as it bumped into it.. my nail is scratched and a little cut. Some people are telling me that my nail will fall off one at a time( which is really freaky, and scary.) , It will just grow out of it, and it'll get infected. Tommorow, I am going to a friends party...a swimming party.

If i swim.. will my toe get infected.

P.S- not cut up bad, just hurts when I press on it.. not bruised up either!!!

I am in a point where I am really scared of what is going to happen.. plz help if you can. I would appreciate some answers!!Toenail PROBLEM... PLZ HELP!!!!!?
you will be just fine swimming with your cut toe, make sure you clean it with soap and water afterwards and rinse well you will be just fineToenail PROBLEM... PLZ HELP!!!!!?
Chances are that your nail will not get infected or fall off. Swimming will not infect the nail at all, in fact chlorine in the pool would promote keeping it sterile (clean).

Don't worry about your toe, it will heal up just fine.

i love it, if you were my boyfiend i would make you wear them anyway and i would make you keep your nails painted all the time. enjoy yourself and be an individual
There is nothing wrong with that. I think you need to get your toes more colour coordinated, dark red and pink?
    baby that's sexy!!

I hope ur not wearing thongs.

    Those hurt my bum
    Gross.
i think its great that they can feel confident doing that. i personally dont find the guy+panty thing attractive, but i love the nailpolish thing, and if a guy can be confortable with either, go ahead!
I think that your a cross dresser since your wearing women's panties, and stupid or just an attention whore for painting your feet 2 different colors.
i think it's okay, girls wear boxers
    gay
Why the different colors on the toes?? Trial or intentional??? OK. You wear panties because you like the way they feel? You paint your toes as a fashion statement?? Each person needs their individuality and you're no different. Express yourself and love who you are.
Whatever makes you happy...if that's what floats you're boat more power to ya! :)

Do u ever chew ur toenail clippings and if so why?

LOL ! i dun chew the clippings... i chew them while the toenails r still attached to my toes....Do u ever chew ur toenail clippings and if so why?
lmao i chew them wen im cutting them! only my fingernails, toenails got germs on them!Do u ever chew ur toenail clippings and if so why?
some how i get the feeling you have a feet fetish?
hell no, and for the record, fingernails are just as bad. they are full of germs and dead decaying skin and parasites that live and feed off the junk under your nails.
    Gross! I never do that!
No. I used to chew on my fingernail but I stopped that bad habit a long time ago.

    Toenail stuck in eye?

This is embarrassing, but a few minutes ago I was clipping my toenail and a piece flew into my eye. It fell beneath my lower eye-lid and it is irritating in that area now. Could this cause a problem? How can I get it out quickly and preferably painlessly?Toenail stuck in eye?
It could scratch your eye, so you'll definately want to get it out. Try pulling down your lower lid and getting it with your finger. (wash your hands first) If that doesn't work, try rinsing your eye out with water. Just flush the water right into your eyeball. Toenail stuck in eye?
hey, hmm.. rinse your eye out, can you actually see the nail? if not it probably already came out and just caused a small abrasion on your conjunctiva which will irritate for a while. You do want to go see your doctor if it persists for over 12 hours or so, toenails have all kinds of bacteria etc on them and can potentially lead to some kind of infection so better safe than sorry. For now, wash that eye out as best you can but if the irritation persists go see your doctor.
if anything gets in your eyes it can cause conjunctivitis (pinkeye).

Not sure how you would go about getting that out other than flushing it with water. I have a hard time keeping my own eyelashes out of my eyes myself.
Soak your eyes in a basin of water. Open your eyes while soaked so the toenail will come out. Hope it'll work...

  • Toenail fungus?

What is the best way to treat toenail fungus?Toenail fungus?
Because it is difficult to treat or eradicate toenail fungus, it is a good idea to try to prevent it. It helps to wear protective shoes or sandals in public showers, pool areas and gyms, and to avoid borrowing someone else?s shoes or sharing socks or towels with someone who has toenail fungus. An orthotic device can be used to add cushioning and/or control over-pronation, support the longitudinal arch, and reduce stress on the lower leg muscles. Wash your feet regularly, and dry them thoroughly when they get wet. Wearing nail polish on the toes is not advised because it can seal in fungus and allow it to grow. Keep toenails trimmed, and be sure to disinfect any pedicure tools before using them. If you do develop toenail fungus, see your foot doctor. The doctor might remove as much of the nail as possible by trimming, filing or dissolving it. Medicated nail polish might be prescribed for a localized infection, but a serious infection will likely be treated with a prescription oral antifungal medication. These medications can have side effects, so be sure to work closely with your doctor on your treatment plan. Only in severe cases will surgical removal of the nail be recommended. If you suspect that you have toenail fungus, see your foot doctor.

ooh if its bad, go to the dr.

i had to have an ickle op on my toenail. my son trod on it and it cracked, i cut it back and it became ingrown.

it was soooo painful. i just kept soaking it in water (rm temp) and keeping it clean with antiseptic.

i went to the drs and he had to numb it (ouch!) and cut half the nail off, right to the nail bed! i thought it would hurt when the numbness wore off but it didnt - it was heaven!

dont let him mess with it himself, honest, he could make it worse!
soaking his feet in warm water will help a little. this helps to soften the skin, and would make trimming the nail a little less painful. also, u can buy little spongy tubes that fit over your toes, that help to stop the toe from rubbing against other toes %26amp; shoes. you can buy those from most chemists.

my mum had the same problem. she had her nail cut out by the doctor.
soak it in hot water and then you need to dig it out. it hurts but after you dig it out it feels so good.
put vasaline on it and then a plaster, don`t pick at it or try to cut it, then get it seen by a doctor
daddy know what to do forget it
If there is redness and swelling...DO NOT use heat or hot water...use ice

    Toenail removal?

I have an infection, after 2 weeks of antibiotics (2nd week stronger) the doctor said it wouldn't go on its own and I'd need surgery to remove the whole nail and not have it grow back!! It's not ingrown so is this necessary? The injury was caused by somebody standing on me. I really really don't want this done, what will happen if I don't have it done?Toenail removal?
    1) That is very strange advice of your doctor. Toenails are to be saved under all possible circumstances.

    2) Which toe is it? The big one NEEDS to have a nail. Otherwise walking and balacing becomes very difficult. Other toes are not so important in this respect.

    3) I strongly recommend to visit another doctor and get a second opinion.

    4) If doing an operation, usually much care is taken to safe the nail-building tissues, so that a new nail can grow. Find a competent doctor!Toenail removal?
If the infection is under your nail and cannot be cured by antibiotics then you need to have it removed, otherwise it will stay trapped under your nail and could spread to the rest of your foot/ your blood...anywhere really. An untreated infection can be incredibly dangerous. I wouldn't advise against talking to another doctor to see if you could somehow save the nail. But the first person who answered this question is way waaaay incorect. Your toe itself is necessary for balance and whatnot, your nail just acts to protect your toe. My mom is 50 and hasn't had a nail on one of her big toes since she was a teenager. She has perfect balance and is an avid runner, she just participated in a 10k run. So losing your nail isn't the end of the world. But like I said before talk to another doc and see if there is an alternate option but do it soon so the infection doesnt lead to something much more serious!

  • Toenail,going brown?

what can this be?its on the big toe,i havent knocked it or anything,it even shows through the nail vanish, thanks for answersToenail, going brown?
Could be a nail fungus. Go to the doc - there's a med you can take for it, but it takes months to work (basically the nail has to grow the fungus out). Another home remedy is to put vaporub on the nail every day - it works, but takes a long time.Toenail, going brown?
i had this before. don't worry its just dirt .take a sharp object and slide it between the toenail and skin, and the dirt will come out.if this does not work go to a Doctor.
its prolli fungus growing under your nail. usually happens if you put socks on wet feet and keep it in sneakers all day like that. since its such a tight space, it cant dry and your body heat makes it moist and humid in your shoe. perfect for bacteria and fungus. theres some otc meds for it but if it is a serious case, see a pediatrician(foot doctor)
    cancer
Fungal infection. Go to the chemist and buy some Cureanail - its good and it'll get rid of it xxx
It could be fungus. Sometimes tricky to completely get rid of. It takes 2-3 months or more. There are topical and internal anti-fungal drugs you can use. Some are OTC some are not. If OTC treatments do not work, then see your doctor for a prescription.

    Some home remedies:

fungal infection, go to the pharmacy and ask for 'Candid B ''fungal oil, specifically designed for nails.
If the toe nail is also thick and or crumbly it is probably a fungal infection ! ! !
    most probably a fungal infection
fungal infection or bad case of athletes feet!

    Toenail damage?

There is a yellowish spot on my big toe. It seems as it my nail is detached from the nail bed in that area. It does't hurt and there is no pus coming out. Does anyone know what this may be and how I can treat it?Toenail damage?
    Shirley,

There are many nail diseases (dont be scared) and many are fungus' (still no fear). I am no Doctor but have had the same thing happen you discuss and was diagnosed with a very common nail fungus. There are several over-the-counter products (very expensive if you are guessing) that can help. I suggest you see your General practitionist and they can identify it readily. With mine, they took a large clipping and sent it to the Lab for analization. The medicated prescription stuff was much chaper because of my copay (and free samples) so I made out better with that and they identified exactly what I had. I had this condition nad it can be pbrought on by chronic athete's foot (Fungus) and its to a point where the spray and ointment doesnt work. I am not an athlete, just heavy and walk a lot attempting to lose weight and it has a lot to do with it. One of the toes was my pinky toe and it kept coming back a little less but it always grew back in crooked and caught on my sock driving me nuts all day until I ripped it off or clipped it until It bled, aggrivating the condition. This one I had removed at the Dr office. They have to put Acid in the nail bed so it doesn't grow back but it was worth it. Now I have no problem and I hope this helps you in some way! You can try the OTC treatment but it is expensive, trust me, go to the Dr and let them get you some samples and a prescrip if you have a good $15 copay you will make out a lot better!

Wish you well with this and PEACE this year!Toenail damage?
ok you have bruised your toe somehow and you may have removed it from the tracks that the nail grows out on you may end you loosing the entire nail no big deal if it does come of it will just be a little tender on top it will grow back ---be careful as it grows back not to hit it and damge it while its trying to regrow on the nail bed and retrack ~~~~~~cosmotoligst nails
Sounds like fungus under the nail!

I heard that Vicks vapo rub ointment kills fungus!

There is also a strong med that a Dr. can prescribe too!

    Toenail fungus?

My big toenail has turned white and it began to become really loose, now its is almost off but not quite. It is quite painful and i can't oull it off because it starts to bleed. I think it is a toenail fungus but i don't know what to do, can i take it off by myself? I go on holiday i a couple of days for a month and don't have time to see a doctor so if i can't do it myself can it wait?Toenail fungus?
Why don't you see your doctor before you get an infection and, lose the toe ?

A fungicide should be used along with something like peroxide to stop any infections.

    Toenail question!?

I have been using a toenail protein called nailtiques for 2 days as my nails are very thin. Today I noticed all around the edges they are a light brown color. Is this a fungus or could the nail protein be turning my toenails this color?Toenail question!?
    Well hunni I think it's a fungus........

Bruised/ dried blood under my toenail?

Okay; soo.. i'm in xc and track and about 5 months ago i dropped my books on my big toe and i run everyday. I thought it wasn't that bad so i covered it over with nail polish. Bad idea. So.. now i'm not sure exactly how to deal with it since it's still black and messed up. is there any cure without going to a doctor? Will the nail fall out and how long would that take? %26gt;%26lt; because it's so gross...Bruised/ dried blood under my toenail?
Sometimes they will fall off another will take the place of it but I had boards to fall on my toe and it did that and it didn't come off it grew out and each time I clipped them it took some off and now it is back to normal other than it broke the toe too but the nail is ok now it takes time though depends on how fast your nail grows as to how long it takes. If it has been 5 months ago I doubt that you will lose it most of the time if you lose it should been off within a few wks or soBruised/ dried blood under my toenail?
5 months ago? You're nail should have grown to the point by this time. There's not much you can do than see a doctor

  • I'm in the mood to paint my toenails, what colour should I do?

I know no one is going to see them because it's winter, but I can't decide and my old polish is chipping off.

I have basically every colour nail polish.

Help please?I'm in the mood to paint my toenails, what colour should I do?
Dark purple.I'm in the mood to paint my toenails, what colour should I do?
hi what about a nice slutty red well its almost christmas , i think i may do mine red later.x
i feel that it is very important to keep toenails looking great throughout the winter time, so that once sandal weather comes back around, your already in good shape!! in the winter i switch between a super dark burgundy (almost a black, but still enough red to not be black) and the other that i LOVE during the winter is a french pedicure! it looks great year round, and is super sophisticated!!
Paint them a dark color, it's more sophisticated and pretty... :) How about a dark purple, with a glittery top coat? (Do you have something like that? I have a top coat with glitter in it, it's really cute... hehe... or if you have several clear polishes maybe you can put glitter in one!) Sorry if that sounds lame but it actually looks pretty cool. Or you can paint them whatever color -- blue or red or something -- and put a little star sticker on each big toe! lol... i saw it in a magazine one time and thought it was adorable. Hope I helped! :) happy painting!
    dark red!
2 colors on one nail! Flashy pink and black! Horizontally.

    http://images.netshops.com/mgen/swatch:M鈥?/a>

    Looks great!

Or paint it one color, wait til it dries, then put a dot that's another color. Or stick some crystals.
a light snowy blue or a bright magenta. Try doing a light snowy blue and using a toothpick to draw little snowflakes on each toe nail with white nail polish. Cute! or bright magenta and white outlines of hearts! There are endless possiblities! =)

Good luck and hope i helepd! =)
i would go with rose red.. a midium color.. u seem like a white girl soo that color suits u...

Girls in Peurto Rico... toenail polish color ?

What color(s) do you usually have your toe nails? What about everyone else? I'm going to get a pedicure and want to get a color everyone else is wearing. Girls in Peurto Rico... toenail polish color ?
again, like elsewhere, no in PR (In FLA) but no one else has answered, so I thought I'd chime in. I'm currently wearing ';cherry bomb'; from Orly. it's almost a hot red color...Girls in Peurto Rico... toenail polish color ?
Well, I'm in North Dakota, but when I travel to the ocean, I love getting bright yellow on my toenails.

I have saved my toenail clippings for the last nine years. is this odd?

Not only is this NOT odd, but you have discovered the newest ';hot'; craft project. No one has been able to collect enough toe nail clippings to get it off the ground. They wanted it in the stores by Christmas, but it is too late now.

The craft set comes with a small round table that you paint. The table is about the size of a small end table in your living room. After the paint dries, you arrange the nail clippings on the table and then hot glue them in place.

The problem is you can only use toe nail clippings because they are stronger than finger nail clippings. They hadn't figured that out and that is why it did not come out this year.

I will get back to you with the email address and you can work directly with the company as far as the actual sale of your nails for the tables.

OH !! Darn it ! I can't do that because it would classified as ';chatting'; and that is against the guidelines. I'll have to think about how to do it. OR you could just take the idea and run with it now that you know what it is.......Good Luck to you................I have saved my toenail clippings for the last nine years. is this odd?
depends, do you choose to do this or is this something you cant help but do.I have saved my toenail clippings for the last nine years. is this odd?
    yes
    YES!!
that's beyond odd, that's ugh so nasty!
goodness yes, i heard some odd ball things on collecting but that beats them all. happy saving. :0)
I have never heard of anyone saving their toe nail clippings before but it's not my place to say if your odd or not. I'm not a judgemental person. So keep on doing what your doing.
depends on why you are saving thm . my opion odd. my opion?
Did you want to see how much clippings you clipped from your nails over the years? And where do you keep them? It's better than what I saw at the grocery store just today...a lady that hadn't clipped her finger nails in probably like 10 years! AHHHH! They were thick and curling under!
I saved my daughter's baby teeth, but saving toenails is way out there. They aren't very sanitary.
    yes
Yes, it is. Now throw those nasty things away and try switching to decaff ! lol
    Yes seek counseling
Personally, I say YES. Why did you save them? What is your thinking behind this? It seems rather strange....
    Soup.. anyone.

    I AM
Better to save money in the bank. Imagine the multilpe amount for 9 years!!!!
Well, are you artists you could use them in a mosaic. Only kidding, only kidding. Yes I think it's odd at least

well, u have two options: either u take him or her to a doctor or you do them urself

if u want and insist on doing them urself then u do the following

1.u calm him or her by patting on his or her back

2.If the dog persists then grab the hand gently and pat it

3.then u start cutting the edge part only as going farther will cause bleeding.

4.Finally if you can't do it or if the dog is uncomfortable take him to a doc.

IN BOCCA'L LUPOI cant get my german shepard beagal mixs toenails clipped. Can sum1 give me sum tips to cut them?
Go to your local pet store, they have special clippers for this.

Also, your local library may have a tape which provides useful information.

If your dog is uncomfortable with getting her nails clipped try

holding one paw on your lap, soothing words and gentle petting while you clip as many nails as you can get away with. Stop. Repeat and continue next day. Eventually, she will become more relaxed amd you both will enjoy.
Take her to the vet or a dog groomer. They will do it for a small charge. Once she gets used to someone doing it a couple of times maybe she will let you do it.

Our beagle lets us cut hers now and then she goes and eats the clippings. Gross!
Since you cannot spell, I hesitate to instruct you in the use of sharp instruments. Try a groomer or friend who knows how.
my dog is exactly the same. It wont let me cut its nails. It was adopted and prolly abused too. He just bites them. I am just persistent and wont let it get away and after like 40 min it just gives up and i clip the nails with a special device from a pet store.

its the same brushing his teeth.
no dog likes it and it makes some dogs so scared they need to be sedated to have it done,If you take them for walks on cement or asphalt it will keep them down and they won't need clipping, but were talking once a day, maybe she will let you file them a little at a time. Over a period of a week they should be about right

Why is the base of on of my toenails white and what can i do about it?

You mean the moon shaped bit? I'm pretty sure that's normal. My doctor said it means you have good levels of iron.

What is the right way to paint your toenails?

I normally start painting in the center then i paint right and left side. I usually do 2 or 3 layers so it doesnt chip, colour also lookss better.

=DWhat is the right way to paint your toenails?
    with a paint brush :S

HOW DO I FIND THE VAIN IN MY DOG'S TOENAIL ?r=1255526498?

The vein is visible if the claw is clear. If it is dark, good luck. Clip in short lengths. When blood comes out, you have found the vein! Do not panic. Just press the tip with a clean ball of cotton until the bleeding stops. Yes, you have to deal with the dog trying to escape and bite you at the same time too.HOW DO I FIND THE VAIN IN MY DOG'S TOENAIL ?r=1255526498?
If you are nervous, keep the toenail as LONG as possible, and only cut until you get close to where the nail turns pink. (this is the blood supply) If your dog has dark nails or you are unsure take your dog to a groomer or a vet so they can show you how to do it properly You can shine a light through the nails if they are dark, but you will have to get someone to help.HOW DO I FIND THE VAIN IN MY DOG'S TOENAIL ?r=1255526498?
The instructions above are reasonable but if you still don't trust yourself to do it, you can have it done professionally at petsmart for about 9 bucks every 4-6 weeks. If you ask, they will show you how to do it yourself or your vet can show you.
You are referring to the Quick.

Look at the dog's nails. If they are white, the quick is the pinkish part in the core of the nail, If it's a black nail, check the other side as it may well be white in some coat types. (My dog is like this. She only has two or three fully black nails so I always check both sides.)

If the nails are all black, you are guessing. If they aren't very long, you can try to cut them level with the bottom of the paw pads and usually avoid the quick. If they are badly overgrown, you are going to get a few quicks. Make sure you have styptic powder on hand in case you get a quick.
    sigh.......VEIN??? To avoid ';quicking'; it?

Simple...just whack off the CURVED part! Smaller, narrower, curved.

%26amp; if you do quick it??? No big deal.
if the toenail is white you should be able to see the quake very easily. just don't go past the red part in his nail. if the nail is black, take a educated guess but be smart and dont cut to deep.
    The word is spelled vein.

Your dog apparently has dark or black toenails? Shine a light through each one. Just clip a little nail off at a time at angles, a groomer can show you how to do this or your vet.
I'm assuming you mean the ';quick'; which is the bloody part in the center of the nail? If your dog's nails are white %26amp; see-through, you should be able to see it quite clearly but if you can't, shine a torch light through it. You can see it better.

But if it's black, look under the nail %26amp; only cut the hollow part. Never cut the fleshy part which you'll be able to see very clearly under the nail or it will bleed profusely. If it does bleed, apply Quick Stop which you can get from a pet shop %26amp; apply it onto the bloody quick.

Have you ever found toenail clippings in an wierd place?

I had surgery and took care of it but for some reason it came back, ppl have told me to cut my toe nail in some kind of V shape, I havent done it so I dont know if it works, I dont feel like having a V shape toe nail cuz I wear open toe heels all the time and it would look so weird. I'm thinking of getting another surgery soon, I dont think they did it right the first time.

=)I got my ingrown toenail fixed....?
Go to another doctor or emergency room. Usually when an ingrown toenail is cut out, the relief is almost immediate.
Ask your Dr. what you can do.
I just threw up in my mouth a lil bit.
why ask that question on here. ask the doctor that did it for you!
soak it in e.salt water or betadine, and make sure you talk to the doctor again if the swelling doesnt go away.
I am sure it will be sore for a while, it's still healing.

    To help a ingrown toenail?

what can i do so i can fix my big toe without sugery and something to numb the pain when i try to mess with the nail!?To help a ingrown toenail?
In the first place, don't cut your toenails along the side, that's what gives you the ingrown toe nails. Always cut the nail straight across or straight across and slightly rounded near the corner. Soak your feet in a warm water solution or right after a bath or shower to work on the nail, the bath or shower will soften the nail. Pull down on the skin where the nail is giving you pain, be careful. Once you get the nail cut away from your skin, put some iodine on it or neosporin. The nail digging into the skin is what's giving you the pain. Maybe you could have your Mother or close friend do the trimming for you. It's hard cutting it away by yourself. Good luck.To help a ingrown toenail?
Soak the foot so that the toe will be very soft, as far as pain goes, maybe take a few aspirin before working on the toe. Or try some ice on the toe for around 10 minutes, works when I used to pierce ears.
i have heard that cutting a v shape at the tip of the nail works. i always just dig mine out, it hurts of course but its better than dealing with the ingrown toenail everyday. try icing it for awhile to numb it.
    dont mess with it..

    chances are its already infected

put baking powder/salt into a bucket of hot water

and let ur foot soak in it for 15-20 mins

once or twice a day will help..

pain will go away.. and infection.. but you still need surgery
you need to go to the foot doctor. He can take out the nail and do it with limited pain. they have a way of numming it. Just ask them to. and they know how to cut the nail so they wil grow back like they should See your foot doc.

When scratching behind your ear, have you ever broke a toenail?

OK, yucko. Why would you be biting your toenails. Gotta be a joke question.
    You're funny...and apparently reasonably flexible.
THERE ARE INSTRUMENTS FOR CLIPPING FINGER NAILS AND TOE NAILS.OR IF YOU CAN AFFORD A REPUTABLE DERMATOLOGIST.
OMG THAT'S SO NASTY. THEY PROBABLY TASTE WORSE BECAUSE FOR ONE THEY'RE ON YOUR FEET AND THINK ABOUT IT HOW MANY TIMES A DAY DO YOU ACTUALLY WASH YOUR FEET NOT TO OFTEN YOUR HANDS ON THE OTHER HAND ARE WASHED SEVERAL TIMES A DAY MAKING THEM A WHOLE LOT CLEANER. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU CHEW ANY NAILS. I GUESS IF THATS YOUR THING CHEW AWAY AS LONG AS I'M NOT AROUND TO WITNESS
Because it is nasty. Toes get what they call is toe jam. Jungus and all kinds of nasty stuff. The can spread the fungus to your mouth and the same with finger nails. Yuk!!!!

    Don't try to kiss me!!!

I have an ingrown toenail. how do i ease the pain?

I have had ingrown toenails for years and what finely worked for me was to get a sand paper file and file the top of the nail in the middle the whole top this will make the nail thiner and then it will take the presure off the nail and make it easier to get at the edge of the nail

If there is a sharp piece cut it and to reshape the nail soak a sm. piece of cotton batton and put it under the edge of the nail

Take out the cotton in the am and pm and soak your foot in hot water with about 1/2 cup of salt in it I am a diabetic and did this and the salt water will stop the infection

Make sure that your shoes are not too tight this is the number one reason for getting ingrown nails

And grown out the nail and the toe nail should be cut so that they are almost straight across and just a little rounded at the sides so that there is no sharp point to cut you.

    By doing this you can avoid painful ';procedure';

ON the other hand if you have what is called a pincher nail

(humped up in the middle and the sides are in the toe so deep that you can not see them) Go to a foot care nurse.

They now can take off just the side of the nail so the healing time is shorter but make sure that they use a chemical so that the nail (the part that they take out) does not come back At first it will look funny but your toe will reshape and the you will have a normal toe nailI have an ingrown toenail. how do i ease the pain?
Try to lift the corner of the toenail with a orange stick(manicure supplies) and put small pieces of cotton under it. Nothing worked for me, and I had to have it removed....simple procedure.I have an ingrown toenail. how do i ease the pain?
soak it in clean warm water for 30 minutes 4 times a day as soon as you can see a doctor
you need to cut out the part of your nail that is growing inward...if you can't do it go see a dr., they can numb it with a shot and then cut it out
First of all, if it is ingrown, you will probably want to get to a doctor soon - if it isn't an easy fix, like filing down a sharp corner. If it is oozing, this is a clear sign that you would want to go, or you could possibly loose your toenail for good, or worse, get a nasty infection causing you to be really really sick...

If it is throbbing, try propping it up on several pillows to keep the blood from settling in your toe.
my big toes both had ingrown nails. what i did was first you need to notch the nail. cut the nail in a triangle shape in the center. then dont do anything to it for a while. when the dead skin gets buildt up at the edge of the nail clip it. and ONLY THE DEAD SKIN. repeat this process as needed. eventally it will grow out. this might sound crazy but it worked for me. mine took about 1 year to go away completely but i didnt have to have surgery. and they were almost to that point. hope this helps.
soak your foot in warm water with Epsom salt
Soak your toe in warm salty water for 20 minutes. This will soften your nail. Take a small piece from a cotton ball and soak it in an antibiotic like Polysporin, then gently push it under the infected corner of the nail. This will help lift the nail away from where it is growing into the skin, ease the pain, and help the infection drain and heal. Replace the cotton twice a day and soak the toe twice a day.

If the toe is not better within a few days, or if the redness starts to spread up toward your foot - go see a doctor. You may need oral antibiotics.

Have you ever stubbed your toe so hard your toenail came right off?

Hurts like mad doesn't it?Have you ever stubbed your toe so hard your toenail came right off?
I stubbed it so bad the whole toe came off.

Just kidding, but it sure felt like it.Have you ever stubbed your toe so hard your toenail came right off?
Yes! My brother left the vacuum out in front of my room one night. I got up to go pee and BAM!
OUCH!!! that sounds painful! I've never done it, and hope I never do!
I happened to me when I was about 9, I caught my toe on a door bar thing, the big toenail came right off, blood everywhere, but the worse thing was, the dog ran off with the toenail and eat it. Ewwww. I got 2 days off school though.
i do it everytime a new one grows back in. for fun.
no, but i have stubbed it so hard i felt it all the way up to my knee, now that's pain.
Yep Ive done that to my little toe at least twice. Smarts like heck.
ouchh. when i stump my toe it just bruises. that seems painful
Losing a toenail is painful. I've done it. It eventually grows back.
    no. yes.
    no
ooh ouch, no. But that must hurt.
Yes, it was during the Watts riots in LA. I lived in Long Beach then. I was in the bathroom when I heard a bunch of gun shots. I opened the door real quick and the bottom of the door ripped the nail right off. Dam, that hurt.
Hell yeah...but in my younger days. I'm too careful nowadays. I guess we all learn by our mistakes.

Ps: I hope you feel better.

  • Way to cure toenail problem?

A few months ago for some reason my big toe started bleeding near the nail. Eventually it stopped and I figured it healed but now the nail is detached from the bottom and sticking up in the air. There is a hard nail under the part that is sticking up and continues to the end of the toe where the detached nail is still attached to. The outer nail is now developing fungus and I'm wondering if the healthy nail under the detached nail a new nail? Should I attempt to remove the detached nail even though it is still attached at the end of the toe? It also still hurts when I play sports and put pressure on it. Thanks for any suggestions.Way to cure toenail problem?
Hi it sounds to me you are having an ingrown toenail. In such instances, you shouldnt try to remove or self-medicate, for the surgical treatment of an ingrown toenail does have some precautions, and it is rather painful as well, so only at the doctors' will you be able to be given powerful enough analgesics to mask the pain.

Also you mentioned that the seems to be some fungus growing on your toe. This can be quite serious as certain fungi can give rise to nail dystrophies and result in splitting of the nail or abnormal nail growths. Such conditions can be treated with antifungal medications, available only at the doctors'. My advice would thus to seek some medical attention, as a doctor would be in the best position to give you the appropriate diagnosis and treatment.

In the meantime, try to steer clear from sports or physical activity for trauma can make the condition worse.

Hope this helps. :DWay to cure toenail problem?
Soak your toes in Hydrogen Proxide every night for a few minutes and you'll notice much improvement very soon .
You should go to a foot doctor ; he can tell if you have an ingrown toenail.

    Why is my toenail purple?

bcuz u have on nail polishWhy is my toenail purple?
you probably dropped something on it or stepped on it or something so now it is bruised underneath of the nail. FYI: it may cause your nail to fall off.Why is my toenail purple?
You've probably hit your toe on someting which caused internal bleading or a mere black and blue which isn't so bad. Your fine =)
You might have bruised it by dropping something on it or stubbing it. It might take some time to heal and it might fall off. Sorry. Hope this helps!
Could be a bruise, infection or nail polish.
maybe cuz you dropped something heavy on it
    Your shoes are too small.
you may have a fungus or stubbed it

    Brown Spot under Toenail?

There is a light brown circular spot underneath the toenail of my middle toe. Very close to where the nail meets the skin. The spot is only the size of a pin head but I've never seen anything like it.

It does not hurt when I press on it and I only noticed it a few days ago.

    What could it be?

Thanks so much :)Brown Spot under Toenail?
Freckle, I have one on my finger. Keep an eye on it for changes.

    Blood under my toenail?

about 3 hours ago a thread in my sock somehow got caught my big toenail and when i pulled my sock off, it it pulled on the nail too. it was very painful; the base of the nail began to bleed so i applied pressure to it until the bleeding minimized. i then applied antibiotic ointment onto it and put a bandage, but i now have a discolored nail with dull pain. will the nail fall off? and how i can prevent it from falling off or prevent infection?Blood under my toenail?
    You probably either:

    1) ran too much and put pressure between your toe and your shoe

    2) kicked something really hard

    3) your toe bumped or hit into something really hardBlood under my toenail?
soak your foot in warm water and mild soap 3x a day for next few days to keep clean. Apply anti-biotic and bandage. elevate when you can. You may not be able so save the nail.
You probably have a hematoma (blood) under your toenail...most of the time a good MD can use a very small drill and remove it quickly without any pain...(I'v had it done to me)...You did the right times, cleaning, pressure and antibiotic/dressing. The nail may fall off...however a doc will just have you watch the progress of your nail over several days to weeks...this is a slow process. Infection...no you did the right thing. When I did this also...I cut a tomato in 1/2 and placed it on my foot while relaxing and it saved my toe nail and relieved the pain. The Lycopiene in the tomato does work! sounds weird! OH well...I've heard worse! Good luck :O)
go to the dr. my sis had that her nail fell off nenver grew back.
